Touch Packaging Innovation is very proud of our colleague Cheryl Mathews. Not only is Cheryl the Touch Finance Director but for the last 12 years she has given up her precious spare time to help others as a Community First Responder (CFR).

Rather than send out Christmas cards this year, Touch Packaging Innovation donated to a great cause that is very close to one of our colleagues hearts – the ‘Community First Responders’.

Community First Responders (CFRs) are the little known volunteer emergency service. CFRs are dispatched by the NHS ambulance Emergency Operations Centre and are part-time volunteers who come from all backgrounds and walks of life. They are trained to respond to emergency 999 calls and help save lives by being first on the scene before an ambulance arrives.

CFRs receive call-outs for anything from cardiac arrest, diabetic emergency, serious bleeds, unconscious patients, breathing difficulties, chest pains or seizures, in fact, anything that the 999 call centre deem as life threatening, since those vital first minutes can make all the difference.

In addition, some CFRs also give their time and skills to promote the service and to help increase the number of volunteers in order to provide round the clock coverage.
